Maciej was born in Créteil near Paris but was mostly raised in Poland. He studied chemistry at the Universities of Warsaw and Strasbourg and then spent his PhD delocalized between France, Japan (JSPS scholarship, Hokkaido University) and Canada (uOttawa) studying the effects of Vibrational Strong Coupling (VSC) on chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Moran in collaboration with the Ebbesen lab. In March 2026 he joined Mayer lab as a postdoctoral researcher eager to harness automation and data science to study complex reaction networks in water. Being himself half-Polish, half-French he enjoys the multicultural environment and learning new languages. Outside of the lab he can be found hiking on volcanoes, dreaming about gliders (Segelflugzeugen) or chasing music venues with the best sound system in the area.
Fun Facts
- He once had a flat tire in the middle of the desert in Death Valley.
- Maciej’s national glider pilot exam finished in a cornfield (he passed!).
